Industrial Flow Solutions are headquartered in New Haven, Connecticut, USA and specialise in the design, manufacture, sales and service of pumping and fluid solutions across the industrial, commercial and municipal waste water sector.

Clearwater Controls will retain its company name and brand, and it will be business as usual. The acquisition will hopefully provide huge opportunities and resources for Clearwater to expand its portfolio, and to continue to develop all of its existing customer and supplier relationships.

Industrial Flow Solutions will also be incorporating the DERAGGER PRO pump station technology across its brands in order to bring intelligent efficiency to nearly all of the Industrial Flow Solutions product lines.

We are delighted to share this news, and look forward to exciting times ahead.

Northumbrian Water case studies prove reduced site visits AND energy reduction.

During 2018 Northumbrian Water installed two new DERAGGER+ units.  In Sunny Brow (Crow) they delivered an estimated cost saving of £12,000 per year. This station used to frequently rag and had been run with proactive weekly lift & clean visits in order to keep on top of the ragging.  Once the DERAGGER was activated, these could be scaled back as they were no longer required.

The Fens (Hartlepool) was referred to by staff as a “non blocker”, however with the DERAGGER installed here it delivered efficiency savings of 20.24% on one pump, and 8.75% on the other pump.  At this site we also tracked a significantly more stable current with the DERAGGER, meaning a strong likelihood that the DERAGGER will also extend pump life.

You can download each case study in PDF format using the links above, or by clicking on the relevant image below:

March of the Wet Wipes, solving the problem!

WRc research on success of DERAGGER could prove critical as BBC Breakfast news and Radio 4 (Costing the Earth) highlight impact of wet wipes on sewage network.

The BBC reported that of the ‘flushable’ wipes tested in the UK to-date, not one has passed the industry tests.  Here at Clearwater, we support the “3 P’s” approach, however this has been going on for years, and no matter how much is done to educate the public some people are always going to flush things they shouldn’t down the toilet – non-flushable wipes, sanitary products or other items.  In fact, another research study recently announced says 39% of women admit flushing things they shouldn’t!

Luckily our DERAGGER doesn’t discriminate, and it is proven to keep pumps running clean.  It’s therefore the low cost way to prevent pump blockages which cause back-ups and spills, which in turn cause such distress to customers and environmental damage.  And it’s proven to reduce energy consumption and extend asset life as well!

Radio 4’s Costing the Earth programme included the below quote:

Andrew Drinkwater, WRc: “The big problem really is that the majority of sewage flooding…is caused because the sewer or pumping station has got blocked because somebody has put something down that is inappropriate…a baby wipe or a wet wipe.

Furthermore, the majority of occasions when a watercourse get polluted with sewage because a sewer has overflowed or a pumping station has got stopped working, again is because somebody has flushed something down the toilet…which has blocked the sewer or caused the pump to jam.”
